Does Ethanol pollute more or less than Fossil Fuels?

Different studies have had different results, but it can be concluded that the difference is not that significant. Sugar based biofuels in Brazil are much more effective even though the US has idiotic tariffs on Brazil's biofuels. The subsidies the US has placed on their own farming industry is just plain stupid. Agriculture prices are skyrocketing and ethanol is causing deforestation increase in fertilizer production (which contains fossil fuels), and other harmful environmental effects. In short corn ethanol should not be subsidized in any way.
