Is it true that F-16 Fighting Falcon had some serious problems and crashes due to wire chafing?

I saw this movie based on a true story named Afterburn. It's about an F-16 fighter pilot who was killed in a crash due to some electrical problems in his instruments, and he therefore couldn't tell whether he was upside down or not. I was just wondering if there were similar incidents that lead to accidents on the F-16 test pilots when the fighter was first released and used operationally.
